Tom Hopkins

Commissioner, 2007 - Current

In 1998 Tom Hopkins purchased his home in Leamington and has been a fulltime resident there since 2005.  

Hopkins graduated from Vidalia High School and majored in electrical engineering at Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern University. After graduation in 1979, Hopkins began work as an Electrical Designer with the Turbitrol Company in Atlanta. Turbitrol provided instrumentation, controls and telemetry systems for the municipal water and wastewater industry. Over the next 15 years, Hopkins held positions of Project Engineer, Corporate Sales Engineer and National Sales Manager.

In 1994, Hopkins and two partners founded MR Systems, Inc. in Atlanta. MR Systems is one of the largest control system integrators in the Southeastern US and provides instrumentation and controls for the municipal water and wastewater industry. Hopkins has been Chief Executive Officer since 2003. 

Hopkins has served on the Broad Creek Public Service District Board since August 2007 and is a 25-plus-year member of the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation, the Georgia Association of Water Professionals and the South Carolina Water Environment Association. 

Hopkins is a member of the Society of Lowcountry Magicians, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Society of American Magicians and the Academy of Magical Arts at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA.
